A Texas Legend
With a Vision For Austin’s Future
Elect Gary Bledsoe
for Austin City Council District 7
VOTE EARLY:
Monday, December 2nd - Tuesday, December 10th
VOTE ELECTION DAY - Saturday, December 14th.
For decades, Gary Bledsoe has stood as a pillar of leadership, justice, and progress in Texas. From his transformative work as the Director of Crime Prevention in the Texas Attorney General’s Office—where he laid the foundation for the Amber Alert system—to his tenure as President of the Texas NAACP, Gary’s career has been a testament to unwavering dedication and impactful results, not rhetoric.
Gary’s legacy is one of action, integrity, and innovation. As a civil rights attorney, he fought tirelessly for justice, championing reforms and fair promotional systems for officers—policies that balanced accountability with respect for public safety.
Now, Gary’s focus is squarely on the future.
We need pragmatic, diligent leaders on our city council to help Austin recover from the disastrous and expensive failed lawsuits and litigious tantrums of defund-the-police advocates like his opponent Mike Siegel.
Gary brings not just a steady hand, but proven leadership and an unmatched commitment to affordability and equity. As a lifelong resident he has real, deep ties to the District.
And while this race might be just another opportunity to see their name on the ballot for some, for Gary…this race is serious.
We are proud to support a leader who understands our past and is prepared to build a better future for all Austinites.
In a recent survey of likely voters in District 7 over two-thirds of respondents shared that they, like Gary, oppose efforts to defund APD.
Gary Bledsoe cares about how decisions made at City Hall will affect you, your family, and your small businesses.
HOME & Affordability
Gary will fight to make sure that HOME rules and affordability policies don’t force our diverse local communities to fall prey to unfunded mandates, outside developers, and out-of-town influencers.
Public Parks
He’ll fight to protect our parks and safe public green spaces from corporate raiders like C3 - LIVENATION, groups that are already funding Gary’s opponent, hoping to buy influence to privatize our Austin park land.
Public Safety
And he will work to deliver public safety for all. Supporting programs and policies that ensure that the right number of highly trained and well equipped firefighters, police officers, and paramedics are available when you call 911.
“During my time running against Gary, I saw firsthand that he is a man of deep integrity.”
I have long admired his ability to listen, to bridge divides, and to work with the diverse communities that make up our district. District 7 is deeply separated by economic gaps, immigrant stories, and socioeconomic class. Gary and I, as the two most northern candidates in this race, have lived and worked alongside these perspectives, and I believe we reflect that understanding.
Gary has not built his career on political opportunism like his opponent. Instead, he has spent decades standing up for people because it was the right thing to do. He didn’t ask for recognition, but he earned it through his tireless work and commitment. I believe in my heart that he will be a good representative for me, my family, our neighbors, and our community.
It is an honor to call Gary my friend and my choice for Austin City Council in District 7, I am confident that he will represent all of us effectively, and I will continue to support him in every way I can.”
